David Lynch’s “The Elephant Man” follows the story of John Merrick (John Hurt), a man born with severe disfigurements and disabilities who has been forced to perform as a circus act in Victorian London. Rescued by a well-meaning surgeon (Anthony Hopkins), Merrick attempts to escape the cruelty and prejudice that has tormented him is entire life.
