Directed by the late Satoshi Kon, Millennium Actress follows an aged actress recounting her years searching for a lost love she first meets during the Second World War. Spanning the 1,000-year period of the films in her acting career, Millennium Actress pushes the animation medium to produce a film that could not be faithfully recreated with live action.
