TINTIN AND THE SECRET OF THE UNICORN

Tintin, intrepid British reporter, sets out on a series of fantastic and dangerous adventures. Strikingly animated, the movie manages to capture some of the magic we have found in Herge’s charming graphic novels– and goes a step further by being positively breathtaking. An altogether riveting and lighthearted tale.

WOMAN IN THE DUNES

When an entomologist gets lost during an expedition in the sand dunes, he is invited by local villagers to stay for the night with a woman who lives alone at the bottom of a pit. He soon finds that he has been trapped, with little hope of escape, and that he and the woman must spend their days struggling to dig up the sand which only slides steadily and endlessly back into the pit, threatening to swallow them. A clawing, despairing existential fable.”

BRASSED OFF

Set during the impending closure of their pit, Brassed Off tells the story of the fictional Grimley Colliery Band (based upon Grimethorpe, who provide the beautiful soundtrack) and its members as they continue to play and compete with the music they love, despite the hardships they all face. Despite the bleak subject matter, which is always apparent, Brassed Off is a darkly funny, moving and inspiring film to all.
