Mailing Lists

Filmsoc now has one active mailing list:

filmsoc-l is a moderated list, used to keep members informed of news, upcoming events and changes to our programme. There will usually be 1 or 2 postings per week, and we encourage everyone to join.

filmsoc-chat is no longer running, please use our discussion boards instead.

Using Majordomo

Advanced users may wish to use Majordomo (the software that runs our lists) directly. You may send commands to majordomo@lists.ed.ac.uk. If you don't know what this means, you can safely ignore it.

Problems

Mailing lists can be problematic, especially if you have more than one address.

Users of the Student Mail Service actually have three ways to write their email address. For example:

  • A.N.Other@sms.ed.ac.uk
  • 9912345@arran.sms.ed.ac.uk
  • and s0312345@sms.ed.ac.uk

    Remember to try all of them if you have problems unsubscribing.

    If you get completely stuck, send a note to filmsoc.listmanager@ed.ac.uk stating:

  • your name
  • your matriculation number
  • your SMS server name
  • and any other email addresses that you may have
